On March 5, 2026, at the 113th Anniversary Dinner of the University of Hong Kong Libraries, HKU Libraries and the Chamber of Young Snow signed a 10-year Memorandum of cooperation, establishing a collaborative framework.

Both parties will jointly promote Chinese culture, enhance young people’s understanding and appreciation of traditional national culture, facilitate academic exchange, and advance other collaborative initiatives.

At the anniversary banquet, Ms. Flora Ng, Chief Information Officer and University Librarian of the HKU Libraries, stated:
“Through the University of Hong Kong Libraries, we aim to promote Chinese culture to our students and staff, international students, alumni, and the wider public, enabling everyone to understand and experience the profound depth of Chinese culture. Last year’s Dunhuang exhibition attracted over 300,000 visitors—an unprecedented success. We hope that, in partnership with the Chamber of Young Snow, we can achieve even greater accomplishments over the next ten years and reach new heights together.”

Dr. Li Shi Cheng, Founder of Chamber of Young Snow, remarked:
“Any exploration of knowledge—including science and technology—must be built upon the inheritance of culture and philosophy. This also explains why the Chinese nation, even when its technology lagged behind more than thirty years ago, was still able to achieve and sustain the miracle of ‘catching up from behind.’ Our profound cultural, artistic, philosophical, and spiritual traditions play an equally indispensable role in technological progress, just as pure scientific research does.”

Both parties aspire to further strengthen the role of the University Libraries as a community cultural hub, as well as the position of the Chamber of Young Snow as a platform for elevating traditional Chinese culture, while promoting deeper exchanges and connections between East and West.
Under the collaboration, an annual “HKU Libraries Chamber of Young Snow Cultural Festival” will be organised each year, featuring a range of programmes including thematic exhibitions, public lectures, concerts, and other cultural activities.
