About Chamber of Young Snow

Chamber of Young Snow is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded by Dr. Lee Si Seng in 2016, aimed at promoting cultural exchange between China and the West. Dr. Lee established the Buddhist Fellowship in 2005, dedicated to introducing the principles of Buddhism and the practice of Dharma to the people of Hong Kong.

Dr. Lee is passionate about Chinese art and culture and is fully committed to its development. His organization not only promotes culture but also collects Chinese artworks ranging from the Han dynasty to contemporary times, and it funds prestigious institutions such as Peking University, the University of Hong Kong, and Lingnan University to advance cultural research and education.

Dr. Lee hosts two programs on Hong Kong’s Metro Finance Radio, ‘Talking about Literature and Arts’ and ‘Flavors of Life,’ and has over 600,000 fans. Chamber of Young Snow attracts young people and community members through diverse activities such as exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and performances, paying special attention to the development of youth and encouraging them to explore the diversity of cultural arts.

Radio Program: Talking about Literature and Arts

Every Saturday at 4:30 PM on Metro Finance Radio during the ‘Reading City’ segment.

• Hosted by Chan Mei-si and Dr. Lee Si Seng from Chamber of Young Snow, the program takes you on an auditory journey through the Avenue of Arts, exploring the world of culture.

• The program content includes topics such as philology, the world of Chinese guqin, the Hong Kong Arts Festival, appreciation of Chinese porcelain, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and more, promoting Chinese culture to the public.

Chamber of Young Snow Art Exhibition Hall

Lingnan University (Ling-U) and Chamber of Young Snow Art Exhibition Hall held the ‘Feel the Objects’ exhibition from June to November last year, showcasing about 30 pieces from Chamber of Young Snow’s collection, including Chinese paintings and ceramic works spanning from the Song dynasty to the 20th century. The exhibition features private collections and borrowed treasures, demonstrating the expression and accumulated meanings and emotions of ancient Chinese art, providing insights and motivation for contemporary society and life, while highlighting the philosophies, values, and worldviews of Chinese artists from different periods.

Key exhibits include the work ‘Qujiang Pool Pavilion’《曲江池館圖》by renowned modern Guangdong painter Li Yanshan from 1939, which reflects the traditional landscape painting of the Yuan dynasty through the imitation of early Qing orthodox painters, capturing the essence of Lingnan garden painting. This piece has been exhibited in various places, including art museums in Beijing, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Dr. Lee Shih-cheng, the owner of Chamber of Young Snow, expressed, ‘We hope to promote Chinese cultural arts to the public through art exhibitions, and we wish for the [exhibition hall] to host more art appreciation and educational activities, increasing everyone’s interest in Chinese art, thereby deepening the understanding of the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese nation and re-evaluating the value and merits of Chinese culture.’

Organized by the Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries at Lingnan University, sponsored by the Chamber of Young Snow’s Distinguished Visiting Scholar Program, and organized by the Chamber of Young Snow Art Exhibition Hall in collaboration with the Film and Creative Industries Research Centre and the Master’s Program in Art History at Lingnan University as an interdisciplinary research project.

  • ‘Exploring Chinese Ancient Calligraphy and Painting Lectures by Chamber of Young Snow’

  • Dr. Lee Si Seng, the owner of Chamber of Young Snow, will share on the topic ‘Raindrops Falling — An Analysis of Fan Kuan’s ‘Traveling in the Streams and Mountains.’
  • Ms. Ng Li Li, Artistic Director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Studio, will share on the topic ‘Unparalleled Elegance — An Analysis of the Virtuous Queen Renxiao’s Book of Goodness from the Ming Dynasty.

This study employs Western aesthetics to explore the artistic and aesthetic values of the treasures at the National Palace Museum in Taipei

Social Media Promotion of Chinese Culture

Through major social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, we promote Chinese culture and arts to the public by regularly introducing local and domestic exhibition activities. This aims to increase interest in Chinese art, deepen understanding of the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese nation, and re-evaluate the value and merits of Chinese culture.

Regularly Held Chinese Cultural Activities

We regularly organize Chinese art exhibition events to continuously promote Chinese culture and enhance the public’s understanding of Greater Chinese cultural arts. We not only collaborate with campuses but also actively partner with various cultural groups in mainland China to further promote and host different exhibition activities.
